Cover ground efficiently from above

A thermal drone can scan large areas and identify heat signatures that deserve closer attention. It can be particularly useful during cooler parts of the day, when the contrast between a person or animal and the surrounding ground is stronger.

Success depends heavily on the circumstances. Dense canopy can block the view, warm ground can reduce contrast, and buildings or public areas may introduce privacy and flight restrictions. A drone cannot guarantee a find.

Information needed before deployment

  • The last confirmed location and time
  • A clear description of the missing animal or search subject
  • Landowner access and relevant permissions
  • Known hazards, roads, power lines and nearby properties
  • Other search teams already operating in the area

Safe coordination matters

Search flights are planned around airspace, weather, visibility, uninvolved people and other aircraft. Where police, emergency services or an established search organisation are involved, drone activity must be coordinated with them.

Elev8 UAV can provide observations and useful location information to people authorised to act on it. Emergency incidents and missing-person searches should always be reported to the appropriate emergency services first.

Conditions make the difference.
